Microsoft just acquired GitHub for $7.5B. Github is a open repository for programmers, software developers etc. It is essentially the go to platform for open source development. This is a BIG deal in the tech space, and even bigger deal for the crypto space as most crypto projects are on GitHub i.e. Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS.Git - Version Control SoftwareBefore talking about Github, we should note that the object of substance is the Git. This is a software that facilitates open-source development in terms of version control. Often open-source software has several contributors/developers, so it is important to keep track of different versions. So, it is Git that is important. GitHub is essentially a host of Gits with a cool user interface (UI). Because of the network effect, it has become the largest host of Gits, but it does not HAVE to be the only way to work on open-source projects i.e. Bitbucket, Still, this is a huge deal, but will NOT likely restrict any open-source development.
